The senseless death of George Floyd has resurfaced deep wounds across our Nation. We know that we don’t live in a perfect Nation, but I do believe and trust that we live in a Nation made up of people who can come together to create a better, more just future for all who call America home. The heaviness of this season has left me searching for words, even though I am well aware the right words do not exist and are not enough to express the gravity of this moment and the change that needs to come next.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends, families, and communities affected by the death of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless others. The African-American community is hurting. Our country is hurting. It is time to stand up and create a space for real change.
At Sequel, we speak often of our stance, Stronger Together. There has never been a more critical moment to believe and act upon this than right now. Together, as an organization, we must stand up for one another, uniting in our mission to care for and treat others with the utmost dignity and respect, regardless of their race, religion, or background.
We vow to remain committed to fostering an environment where each and every individual is safe, treated fairly, and respected. Racism or other discriminatory behavior will not be acceptable within our organization, period. We have always been proud to have such a diverse workforce and client population at Sequel – and we will remain a strong, united family as we move forward through this difficult season and beyond.
For those of you who are struggling during this time, please know that you are not alone. Rest assured that the Sequel Family is here to be a resource and a help to you. The past few months have proven just how important it is for us to stand together through difficult times, leaning on one another for support and assistance. We must take these lessons learned through the COVID-19 pandemic and carry them with us into all situations and seasons. That being said, don’t forget about the free resources you have access to through our Employee Assistance Program. For additional information regarding the EAP, please reach out to your local HR representative.
We want to lend our voices to those who for too long have gone unheard in the fight for justice and equality. We see you, we hear you, and we stand with you. Your lives matter, and are valued at Sequel. Together, we have the ability to drive real change. Sequel has always been and will remain #StrongerTogether. Let us unite in solidarity to be better versions of ourselves each day for one another, our organization, our clients, our communities, and the world.
Passion is one of Sequel’s core values. We are passionate about many things – namely what we do and how these programs instill permanent, positive change and propel our clients toward their best and full potential. We are also passionate about building a world where all people, regardless of skin color, are propelled toward equality, opportunity, and unity.
