Mountain Home Academy
Mountain Home Academy was established in 2001 as an intensive, secured residential care facility for at-risk and adjudicated or non-adjudicated delinquent males between the ages of 10 and 18. All of the youth at our program have sexual behavior problems. With a licensed capacity of 60 residents, Mountain Home Academy serves youth mainly through the Department of Juvenile Corrections as well as through the Department of Health and Welfare. Whom Do We Serve?
The typical resident admitted to Mountain Home Academy is a juvenile offender who has sexual behavior problems. Our program specializes in serving youth with Pervasive Developmental Disorders such as Austism and Aspergers. A majority of our youth have serious emotional disturbance and/or learning disorders. Students typically show a low degree of empathy for others, have poor means-ends reasoning, are impulsive, have problems with anger control and aggression, are irresponsible, deny and/or justify negative behaviors (i.e., consider themselves victims when confronted), pride themselves on antisocial values and behaviors, lack self-discipline, and are counteractive and non-compliant with authority.
